Service scope

Day porter

One person who keeps the building presentable while it is in use.

The day porter works a posted checklist through your opening hours: restrooms on a round, entrances and glass, restocking, spills and trash. They are on site by name, and your front desk can call them directly.

How it runs

A day, in order

  1. 01

    Step 1: Start of day

The porter checks the notes from the night supervisor and walks the building once.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Posted rounds

Restrooms, entrances and common areas are checked on the times on the posted sheet.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Calls and spills

Your front desk calls the porter directly; the porter responds and notes it.

  4. 04

    Step 4: End of day

The porter hands off to the night crew with notes on anything that needs an extra pass.

Day porter questions

Does the porter replace nightly cleaning?

No. The porter keeps the building presentable during the day, and the night crew does the cleaning and floors.

Can the porter set up for events?

Yes, from a room-setup sheet you give us. Large events are added to the schedule in advance.

Who covers when the porter is out?

The scope sheet names a second person assigned to your building, and your contact is told at the start of the shift.
